Fenn's first Halloween was lots of fun. First of all, they had a party at daycare and took photos in their costumes. Fenn's individual photo turned out great. They said he's the only one who smiled for it.
Then they were brave enough to attempt a group photo... inside, NOT outside like they did for the individuals. Fenn is in there, but he kept looking down and his mane covered part of his face. Left to right, the teachers are Ashley, Emily, and Jennifer. And the kids are Sydney, Noah #1, Annabelle, Charlotte, Ariyanna, Mary Frances, Fenn, Ella Kate, and Noah #2. If you'll notice, both Noahs were Pooh!
When I arrived at daycare a little early to pick him up so we could get home, get changed, and head next door, Fenn was still sound asleep. I always hate to wake him from a nap, so I sat tight for a little while and talked to his teachers. Meanwhile, Fenn continued to sleep through Ella Kate patting him on the back and head, Annabelle bumping into his mat with a walking toy, and even mommy rubbing his back and head. I finally had to wake him up because we were going to be late. Our neighbors, Wayne and Nicole, were so sweet and had invited several people over with their kids to play for a little while and then head out to trick-or-treat together. When we first got there, Fenn was mesmerized by watching the bigger kids play. He had the funniest look on his face and just sat there for a while looking around.
Within a few minutes, he snapped out of it and started playing with Audrey's toys and crawling all over the room. I just kind of like the next photo because it seems to show exactly what he was thinking when he first got there. And then the next photo was taken after he snapped out of his trance. ROARRRR!!!!!
Once everyone arrived, we loaded up the wagons and took some photos before heading out. From left to right we have: Suzanne the Princess, Cade the Fireman, Miles the Leopard, Morgan the Monkey, Audrey the Cow, Hayes the Lion, and Fenn the Lion. Trying to get a good group shot of 7 kids in Halloween costumes proved to be quite difficult!
I got some cute ones of the "little tikes" wagon. Fenn is only 4 days older than Hayes and only about 3 months older than Audrey. Hayes and his big brother, Cade, just moved in down the street a month or so ago. So now we have about 9 or 10 kids within a block or two that are between 4 months and 14 months old. Six of those kids are on our street! And we also have several more that are in the 3 to 4 year old range. Kids, kids everywhere!
I think these next two pictures are funny because it looks like they're carrying on a conversation and laughing about something.

We all headed out to trick-or-treat on our street. We kept Fenn out until close to 7:00 and then had to get him home and feed him. Because we were running late, we didn't get a chance to feed him before heading out, and he usually eats dinner between 5:30 and 6:00. But he never complained. He really was having a great time going up to the doors with the big kids and smiling at everyone who answered their door. Here are a couple more photos from the night. They were taken on the front porch of Ty and Holly's house, who live down the street. Holly grew all the pumpkins on her dad's farm.
We had such an awesome time. Thanks to Wayne and Nicole for organizing the group. It was so much more fun to trick-or-treat with other people. We have a great street because so many young families and fun people keep moving in. Oh, and the first photo up at the top was taken while out trick-or-treating. That was his expression the whole night!
