Tonight was the first Front Yard Friday of the season... and Boone's first official outing. {That's Fenn and Boone, with Audrey in the background in the photo above.} Our neighbors, Rob and Janna, were gracious enough to host the first one. Dan and I had hoped to kick off the season in early May before Boone was born, but we just couldn't fit it in. If you didn't read about our Front Yard Friday socials from last summer and are wondering what it is, it's a family-friendly neighborhood social hosted on the front lawn of different families every few Friday nights during the summer and early fall. The host provides the place, an appetizer or two, soft drinks, water, juice boxes, plates, utensils, cups, and napkins. Neighbors bring themselves, their kids, an appetizer, and their favorite adult beverage. They start around 5:30 and last for a couple of hours. The host places homemade invitations in everyone's mailboxes and/or sends invitations via email. We really had a good time doing this last summer and got to know a lot of our neighbors that way. Boone barely even noticed he was anywhere other than home, as he pretty much slept through the whole event.
